Battery LifeThe good news is that for your typical tournament, battery life is not much of an issue. Here is the link on batteries by Apple with links to specific devices: Batteries In summary:
Auto-Lock Option: In the Setup view there is an Auto-Lock option. If you set the Auto-Lock to OFF, Chess Score Pad will disable the idle timer that is used for the Auto-Lock. So if you are using an iPhone, the maximum Auto-Lock is only 5 minutes and there is a good chance that your iPhone will Auto-Lock during a game. By turning the Auto-Lock OFF, your device will not turn off during an active game where a result has not been entered. This allows you to keep your Auto-Lock setting to conserve your battery for all other uses. If your battery is very low, you may have to turn the Auto-Lock ON and let the Auto-Lock timer lock your device. The status bar is visible so you can easily check if your device is in Airplane Mode and keep track of your battery charge. You can use a swipe up and down gesture from the board view anywhere but on the board to adjust the brightness. So for the iPhone you will need to have the device in landscape to have an area available to swipe to adjust brightness. If you are using an iPad most covers will turn the iPad off and on without exiting the app. You will need to set your setting: "iPad Cover Lock/Unlock" = ON. For extra insurance, a battery powered charger can be used. |
